Elizabeth Grant

Research Statistician

Betsy Grant has been employed at Washington University since 1977 and has been in the Division since 1986. She received AM, MSW, and Ph.D. degrees from Washington University. She is a Research Statistician and is the data manager for the Charles F. and Joanne Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC) and the program projects Healthy Aging and Senile Dementia (HASD) and Antecedent Biomarkers for AD: The Adult Children Study (ACS). These combined databases include data from thousands of participants collected over 37 years, and represent the adult age span from 45-102 years.

As data manager Betsy oversees data entry and cleaning for the many the cores and projects associated with the three major center grants as well as monitoring the participant recruiting and scheduling for the various cores and projects within the Knight ADRC and the program projects. She reviews data collection protocols and prepares numerous reports. She creates data sets for ADRC, HASD and ACS investigators as well as for the many investigators from other WU departments and from outside of WU who recruit ADRC participants for their research and who use ADRC tissue and data. She submits the neuropathology data for the multi-site, nation-wide Alzheimer Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) and monitors the WU data submission to the multi-site National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center (NACC). She also participates in the analysis of center data and collaborates with ADRC, HASD and ACS investigators on manuscript preparation.
